A profound tragedy has struck Mandyadakoppalu village in Srirangapatna, near Mysuru, as three young lives were lost to a canal drowning on Saturday evening, November 1, 2025. Reports indicate that a fourth child from the same group is still missing, prompting ongoing intensive search efforts.
According to Mandya police, the victims were students from an Islamic seminary located in the Udayagiri area of Mysuru. They were part of a larger group of 15 individuals, including students and a teacher, who had visited a water body close to the Sri Cauvery Boredevara Temple.
During their visit, six individuals, including one teacher, were unexpectedly swept away by the canal’s currents. While two members of the group, including a teacher, were successfully rescued, the situation quickly turned dire for the others.
Overnight rescue operations, aided by local residents, led to the recovery of the bodies of three girls. Police have confirmed that these deceased girls were approximately 13 to 14 years old. The search continues for the one remaining girl who is yet to be found.
Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services are actively involved in the relentless search operation, working tirelessly to locate the missing child and provide support in this challenging time.
