Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manoj Tiwari has accused supporters of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of orchestrating an attack during his roadshow in Dumraon, Bihar. The incident occurred on Saturday while Tiwari was campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections.
According to Tiwari, the convoy was targeted near the Brahm Baba site in Dumraon Ariyav, where protestors chanted RJD slogans and attempted to board his vehicle to install a party flag. To de-escalate the situation and prevent further confrontation, Tiwari stated that his convoy had to accelerate and leave the area.
Expressing his dismay, Tiwari took to X (formerly Twitter) to question the RJD’s conduct during the election campaign, asking, “Why such thuggery?” He further alleged that the miscreants resorted to hurling abuses and even hit vehicles with sticks, terming the event a “blatant crime.”
Following the alleged attack, Tiwari has formally lodged a complaint with the police and has also appealed to the Election Commission, the administration, and leaders of the Mahagathbandhan to ensure fair campaigning. “I am appealing to the Election Commission, administration, and Mahagathbandhan leaders – what kind of behaviour is this when contesting elections?
It is a blatant crime… We have lodged a complaint and spoken to the SP. A complaint has been forwarded to the Election Commission, and strict action should be taken against those behind this incident,” he told news agency ANI.
Commenting on the incident, Delhi Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh from the BJP criticized the RJD, reiterating the ‘jungle raj’ jibe. He stated that the RJD is showing its “anger” due to the strong support Tiwari was receiving in the Dumraon constituency. Singh urged the people of Bihar to reject the “jungle raj” and support the NDA coalition led by Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Tiwari is a prominent star campaigner for the BJP in the Bihar Assembly elections, alongside other celebrity politicians like Ravi Kishan and Dinesh Lal Yadav “Nirahua”. The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the vote counting on November 14.
