A late-night dispute over a light switch in Bengaluru turned fatal, resulting in the death of a 41-year-old man who was allegedly bludgeoned with a dumbbell by his co-worker. The shocking incident occurred at a private firm named ‘Data Digital Bank’ in the early hours of Saturday. The company, specializing in movie shooting footage management, had two employees working overnight: Bheemesh Babu, 41, from Chitradurga, and Somala Vamshi, 24, from Vijayawada. The altercation reportedly began when one of the employees objected to the other switching off a light. In a fit of rage, Vamshi allegedly grabbed a dumbbell and struck Bheemesh on the forehead, causing fatal injuries. The accused later surrendered to the Govindraj Nagar police station, and a murder case has been registered against him. Police are investigating the incident, which they described as a “fit of rage accident” stemming from a minor disagreement. This event underscores a worrying trend of workplace violence, following a similar incident in October where three individuals were arrested for allegedly beating a co-worker to death over a bicycle dispute.
