Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy didn’t mince words on Thursday, accusing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of sharing an ‘adhesive bond’—a veiled alliance. He asserted that this alleged understanding had directly contributed to the lack of development in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency.
Addressing a public gathering in Borabanda, Mr. Reddy was joined by prominent Congress figures including candidate V. Naveen Yadav, Rajya Sabha member Anil Yadav, Cabinet Minister Mohammad Azharuddin, and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud.
The Chief Minister questioned the BRS’s current promises of change in areas like Borabanda, pointing out their failure to address basic civic issues during their decade in power. He also took aim at Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, criticizing him for not securing federal funds to improve the constituency during his term and suggesting deliberate neglect and the manufacturing of problems.
Highlighting the Congress party’s commitment, Mr. Reddy affirmed that they had fulfilled their pledge by appointing Mr. Azharuddin as a minister.
He fondly recalled the enduring legacy of the late P Janardhan Reddy (PJR), a former Congress legislator, noting how his contributions, especially to vulnerable communities, are still remembered. Mr. Reddy also remarked on how those now invoking PJR’s sentiment had previously opposed decisions made after his passing.
The Chief Minister detailed the significant initiatives implemented by the Congress government, such as providing ration cards to low-income families, offering 200 units of free electricity, and enabling free travel for women on Telangana State Road Transport Corporation buses. He further emphasized the government’s efforts to ensure women’s representation in the Cabinet, citing leaders like Seethakka and Konda Surekha, and creating market avenues for women’s self-help groups.
Urging voters to back Congress candidate Naveen Yadav, Mr. Reddy stressed that as a local resident, Mr. Yadav would be readily accessible to tackle community issues and would strive to provide housing under the Indiramma Indlu scheme. He assured that a strong mandate for the Congress would pave the way for extensive development projects in the constituency.
Responding to a call to honor PJR by naming the Borabanda junction after him, the Chief Minister pledged that this would be a key action during a ‘Vijaya Yatra’ (victory procession), officially establishing it as ‘PJR Junction’. He concluded by appealing to the electorate to ensure a substantial winning margin for Mr. Naveen Yadav.
