Tirupati District Collector S. Venkateswar has officially announced that the Hathiramji Mutt will be reconstructed in its original architectural style, thereby quashing widespread rumors about its complete demolition. He also gave a firm assurance that the Banjara community would receive top priority, with all necessary facilities being provided at the newly rebuilt premises.
During a comprehensive review meeting held on Saturday at the Collectorate’s video conference hall, Collector Venkateswar, accompanied by MLA Arani Srinivasulu and District In-charge Joint Collector N. Maurya, addressed members of the Hathiramji Mutt Committee. He strongly urged them to disregard any misinformation suggesting that the entire mutt was slated for demolition.
The Collector revealed, “Following directives from the district-level committee, an expert panel was formed, and their recommendations have been thoroughly considered. Director Prasanna Kumar from IIT-Tirupati and Director R.N.S. Murthy from the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, meticulously inspected the building and concluded that a complete reconstruction is feasible.”
He further elaborated, “The experts noted that the original building utilized Madras terrace roofing technology. This traditional method can be replicated in the reconstruction, employing only lime mortar, wood, and bricks, completely devoid of cement or concrete. This technique is contemporarily known as Rain-forest Cement Concrete.”
