In the early hours of Saturday morning, Kaggalipura police launched a swift operation on a local homestay, busting a rave party and detaining over 130 attendees. Many of those present were reportedly under the influence of alcohol, with several also suspected of consuming narcotic drugs.
The raid, which took place around 3 a.m. at Ayaan Retreat Homestay on the city’s outskirts, was prompted by intelligence regarding an unauthorized gathering involving illicit drug use. All individuals detained were residents of Bengaluru and were subsequently transported to Ramanagara District Hospital for thorough medical examinations.
Investigations quickly revealed that the event was organized and coordinated through a WhatsApp group named “Gen Z.” The attendees, primarily college students and young professionals from Bengaluru, ranged in age from 19 to 23, with three of them identified as minors. This exclusive group utilized WhatsApp to plan and announce their clandestine parties.
Authorities have since taken the event organizers into custody for further questioning, with an ongoing investigation to uncover more details. Srinivas Gowda, Superintendent of Police for Bengaluru South District, emphasized that the homestay was operating without proper permits and had been a source of disturbance for nearby residents.
He detailed the raid: “Acting on a specific tip-off, a team led by the Kaggalipura police station inspector stormed the premises. We found more than 100 people partying, including a significant number of women and three minors.” During the raid, officers seized several cigarette butts, which will undergo forensic analysis, along with a few grams of marijuana and numerous liquor bottles.
Currently, four individuals believed to be the primary organizers of the illegal event have been formally charged as the police continue their efforts.
