An IndiGo flight en route from Jeddah to Hyderabad was diverted to Mumbai on Saturday following a security threat. The diversion came after the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad received an email warning of a “human bomb” aboard IndiGo flight 6E 68.
The threat email, reportedly sent around 5:30 AM, urged airport authorities to prevent the IndiGo flight from landing in Hyderabad. In response, the aircraft was safely diverted to Mumbai. An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that the flight received a security threat on November 1, prompting the diversion. The airline followed established protocols, immediately informing relevant authorities and cooperating fully with security checks before the aircraft was cleared for further operations.
According to news agency PTI, the email specifically mentioned that onboard LTTE-ISI operatives had planned a blast in a manner similar to the 1984 Madras Airport incident.
