Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives in a recent stampede at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kasibugga, Srikakulam district. In a press release, he conveyed his deep condolences to the families affected by the tragedy.
The Deputy CM noted that the privately managed temple was exceptionally crowded with devotees celebrating the auspicious occasion of Karthika Ekadasi, and it was this overwhelming rush that sadly led to the fatal incident.
Following the unfortunate event, Mr. Kalyan confirmed that directives have been issued to officials to ensure the best possible medical attention for those injured. Furthermore, he emphasized the critical need for swift and effective relief and rescue operations in such emergencies.
Recognizing that a significant influx of devotees is common during the entire Karthika Masam (holy month), Mr. Kalyan has instructed the Endowments Department to implement stringent queue management protocols at all temples. This measure aims to prevent similar incidents during other festive gatherings.
He specifically called for enhanced care and arrangements for vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the elderly, to ensure their safety and comfort. Additionally, he stressed the importance of pre-deploying police personnel, doctors, and paramedical staff to handle any potential emergencies proactively.
