New Delhi: The historic Red Fort will be the stage for a spectacular celebration of Delhi’s Foundation Day this Saturday evening. The event, themed “Meri Dilli Mera Desh – Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” promises an evening filled with music, culture, and culinary delights, with popular singer B Praak set to headline the festivities.
Organized by the directorate of education and sports in collaboration with the Delhi tourism department and the Government of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, the celebration also marks the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, honoring his significant contributions.
The evening will commence with captivating cultural performances by talented artists and enthusiastic school students. These performances will showcase a diverse range of artistic expressions, from classical and folk traditions to contemporary art forms, all reflecting the vibrant and cosmopolitan spirit of Delhi.
Adding to the grandeur, a mesmerizing light and sound show will illuminate the Red Fort’s facade, narrating the city’s historical evolution. A projection mapping, themed “Main Who Dilli,” will further capture Delhi’s transformative journey.
“The idea is to celebrate Delhi as the heart of India — as a city that embodies unity, resilience and inclusivity,” stated Education Minister Ashish Sood.
Complementing the cultural showcase, the Red Fort lawns will host an exciting food festival. With 52 stalls, the festival will offer a delectable array of regional Indian dishes alongside Delhi’s own beloved street food flavors. This initiative aims to highlight Delhi’s self-reliant and entrepreneurial spirit, with popular local food outlets offering their specialties.
Well-known food bloggers will also be present, sharing their experiences live on social media to amplify the festive atmosphere. The celebrations are set to begin at 6 pm and are open to the public, with authorities anticipating a large turnout and having made comprehensive arrangements for crowd management and security in coordination with the Delhi Police.
