Mumbai witnessed an unfortunate turn of events during pop star Enrique Iglesias’ recent concert. While thousands of fans were immersed in the music and nostalgia, a significant number fell victim to mobile phone theft. Authorities reported that a staggering 73 phones, collectively valued at approximately ₹23.85 lakh, were stolen during the event. Consequently, seven First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed concerning these incidents.
The concert, held at the MMRDA Grounds in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), attracted a massive crowd of over 25,000 fans eager to relive hits like “Hero” and “Bailamos” with the 50-year-old Grammy winner. Among those who reported their devices missing were individuals from various professions, including a makeup artist, a hotelier, several students, a journalist, and multiple businessmen.
Adding a unique moment to the evening, Iglesias himself interacted with the audience when a fan threw their phone onto the stage. The singer, mid-performance, caught the device, snapped a quick selfie with it, and returned it to the crowd. This interaction, however, did not deter other fans from attempting to do the same, though no other phones reached the stage successfully. Iglesias and his team were observed returning phones that landed near the stage to their owners.
Despite the unfortunate thefts, the concert was largely a success, with fans enjoying the iconic performer’s presence in Mumbai.
