Perplexity has launched a new feature within its AI-powered ‘Finance’ tool designed to monitor insider trading and the stock holdings of politicians. Aravind Srinivas, the company’s CEO, announced on LinkedIn that this functionality will soon extend to tracking the trading activities of Indian politicians.
The initiative was sparked by a user’s query on X (formerly Twitter) asking how to track trades made by Indian politicians, similar to how it’s done with figures like Nancy Pelosi in the US, to potentially profit from their stock movements. Srinivas responded, stating that “Holdings of Indian politicians coming in a few weeks.”
It’s worth noting that data on politicians’ financial holdings is often publicly available through regulatory filings, and Indian politicians are required to declare their assets and holdings. However, the Perplexity feature aims to consolidate and present this information more accessibly.
The announcement has generated varied reactions online. Some users expressed excitement about tracking real-time updates of Indian politicians’ investments. Others, however, voiced skepticism regarding accuracy, pointing out that many politicians often hold assets through relatives or family members, which might not be directly reflected in their personal declarations. One user commented, “Indian politicians don’t generally invest in their own name, but through their spouse and children,” highlighting a potential loophole. Another user remarked, “This will make or break you for the Indian market,” while a third added, “Mostly, they hold their assets through relatives…” Conversely, one user saw a positive aspect, stating, “Indian politicians holding stocks is a good thing; it means they are above board. It’s the ones who don’t hold stocks you should worry about.”
Perplexity has introduced a new feature to track insider trading and politician holdings through the ‘Finance’ feature available on its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool. The company’s CEO, Aravind Srinivas, also announced that soon users will be able to see and track the trading done by Indian politicians.

A user asked on X, “How can I track trades made by Indian politicians? I want to replicate what Americans have done with Nancy Pelosi and make profits from her trades… I know they made their stock assets public during elections, but how can I find them on a normal day?”
In response, Chennai-born Srinivas said, “Holdings of Indian politicians coming in a few weeks.”
Notably, much of the data on politicians’ financial holdings is already made public through regulatory filings. Even in India, politicians and lawmakers are required to declare their assets and holdings.
Aravind Srinivas had on Friday announced on his LinkedIn that politician holdings of public stocks are now available on Perplexity Finance.
