Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad is optimistic about the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) prospects in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. In an interview, the former Union minister stated his confidence in the NDA’s victory, attributing it to the people’s faith in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the alliance’s commitment to good governance. Prasad criticized the opposition, particularly the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress, citing corruption scandals and a lack of public trust.
Prasad drew a stark contrast between the NDA’s performance and the RJD’s past governance, which he described as a “jungle raj.” He highlighted the development initiatives and improved law and order under the NDA in Bihar, mentioning advancements in infrastructure, education, and healthcare. He also pointed to the success of women’s self-help groups and other empowerment schemes.
Addressing the opposition’s campaign strategies, Prasad dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s comments as those of a “political tourist” and predicted a historically poor performance for the Congress in Bihar. He also questioned the RJD’s promises, particularly regarding job creation, and emphasized the economic realities of such pledges.
Prasad defended the BJP’s alliance with Nitish Kumar, acknowledging Kumar’s age but commending his dedication and the public’s continued trust in him. He contrasted this with the internal conflicts within the opposition alliance (MGB), which he believes further weakens their chances.
