Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, made a pressing appeal on Friday, calling upon the corporate sector to lend vital support to families reeling from the impact of Cyclone Montha and the relentless heavy rains that followed.
The Minister specifically urged businesses to organize comprehensive relief and rehabilitation camps, with a particular focus on the hardest-hit districts of Bhupalpally and Peddapalli. He underscored the critical importance of collaborative efforts to assist those who have endured devastating losses due to this natural disaster. As part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, companies were asked to provide crucial aid, including essential commodities, life-saving medicines, and medical assistance to individuals and communities in dire need.
In official letters dispatched to numerous corporations, Mr. Sridhar Babu acknowledged the government’s ongoing robust relief operations. However, he stressed that supplementary support from the private sector is indispensable and would significantly expedite the recovery process for the affected populace. The Minister passionately highlighted the paramount importance of empowering these families to reconstruct their lives with dignity and resilience. The catastrophic weather event resulted in widespread destruction of standing crops and significant damage to harvested produce like paddy and maize, which were either submerged in fields or ruined in markets due to rainwater, as confirmed by the Minister’s office.
