A significant allocation of ₹7 crore has been officially approved by the Public Works Department for the construction of a much-needed new inpatient block at Alappuzha General Hospital. This vital funding arrives after a compelling demand was raised during the recent Nava Kerala Sadas, underscoring the government’s commitment to public health infrastructure.
The proposed development outlines a modern two-storey structure. The initial phase of construction will focus on completing the ground floor and a substantial part of the upper level, ensuring a phased yet impactful expansion of facilities.
The impetus for this expansion came from the hospital superintendent, who recognized the increasing patient population and the critical shortage of space, especially within the emergency wing. The architectural design, meticulously prepared by the Public Works Department’s specialized architecture wing, has received full approval. This design adheres strictly to the latest health infrastructure and safety standards, promising an enhanced and safer environment for patients and staff alike.
