Kochi, Kerala witnessed a momentous occasion on Thursday, October 30, 2025, as Vismaya Mohanlal, the talented daughter of legendary actor Mohanlal, stepped into the world of cinema with the official launch of her debut Malayalam film, ‘Thudakkam’.
The auspicious puja ceremony was graced by prominent figures from the film industry and her loving family. Her father, Mohanlal, mother Suchitra, and brother Pranav Mohanlal were present, offering their unwavering support. Also in attendance was esteemed producer Antony Perumbavoor, under whose banner, Aashirvad Cinemas, the film is being produced. Notably, ‘Thudakkam’ also features Antony Perumbavoor’s son, Ashish Antony, in a significant role. The directorial reins are held by Jude Anthany Joseph, fresh off the massive success of his box-office hit, ‘2018’.
Addressing the gathering, a visibly proud Mohanlal shared his sentiments, admitting he ‘never imagined’ both his children would venture into the film industry. He fondly recounted naming his daughter ‘Vismaya’ (meaning ‘wonder’) because everything in his life had been a ‘vismayam’ (wonder). He credited his audience for his 48-year-long career, stating that just as he was destined for cinema, so too were his children.
Director Jude Anthany Joseph expressed his excitement, revealing his deep admiration for Mohanlal. He conveyed his joy in helming Vismaya’s acting debut, describing ‘Thudakkam’ as a heartwarming ‘small family movie’.
