Police in Chikkamagaluru have arrested a man, identified as Adithya, on serious allegations of harassing a woman by uploading digitally altered images of her to various websites. The arrest took place on Wednesday at his home. It’s reported that Adithya previously held a position as an office-bearer in the youth wing of the Congress party.
The formal complaint was filed on Tuesday by the victim with the Chikkamagaluru Town Police. She accused Adithya of harassment through the distribution of her manipulated images, along with sending offensive messages and videos to several women.
Following the woman’s complaint, law enforcement officials initiated a case against Adithya under various sections of the law, including sexual offense (72(2) of BNS), stalking (78 of BNS), and pertinent sections of the Information Technology Act. Chikkamagaluru Superintendent of Police, Vikram Amathe, confirmed the arrest and stated that a thorough investigation is underway.
Interestingly, prior to his official arrest, Adithya was reportedly confronted and physically assaulted at his residence by a group of individuals who were outraged by his alleged actions. Videos of this confrontation have since circulated widely across social media platforms.
