Following persistent downpours brought by Cyclone Montha, Commissioner R.V. Karnan of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Commissioner A.V. Ranganath of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) conducted an urgent inspection of the Lakdi-ka-pul area this Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Their mission was to evaluate the severe water-logging and resulting traffic chaos plaguing the locality.
The commissioners voiced significant apprehension regarding the stagnant rainwater pooling near Mehdi Function Hall, which has been severely impeding traffic movement. They promptly instructed engineers to clear the standing water without delay and accelerate existing pipeline construction. Furthermore, while acknowledging that drainage lines are already present along both sides of the road, they emphasized the critical necessity of connecting the sewage and stormwater pipelines extending from Mahavir Hospital and Chintal Basti to effectively avert future inundation.
To alleviate the immediate waterlogging and ensure unhindered traffic flow, directives were issued for the complete cleaning of pipelines situated between Mahavir Hospital and Mehdi Function Hall, with a strict two-day deadline for completion. Additionally, the traffic police department was urged to collaborate closely with GHMC officials, ensuring all necessary works are executed swiftly and efficiently.
