Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stated on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears to be “scared” of Donald Trump and urged the Prime Minister to publicly confirm that the US President’s claims about facilitating an India-Pakistan ceasefire are false.
Gandhi made these remarks during a joint rally held in the Darbhanga constituency in Bihar, which is currently preparing for elections.
Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he utilized trade policies and tariffs to achieve a ceasefire between India and Pakistan during the conflict that erupted in May, following Operation Sindoor.
Operation Sindoor was initiated by India against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people.
This is not the first instance where the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha has criticized the Prime Minister regarding Trump’s assertions about the India-Pakistan ceasefire.
During a parliamentary debate on Operation Sindoor in July, Rahul Gandhi sharply commented on PM Modi’s stance and demanded clarity on Trump’s ongoing claims.
He challenged Modi, stating, “If he has the courage, he will say here that Donald Trump is a liar. If he has 50% of the courage of India, he will say it.” He then directly addressed the Prime Minister, adding, “He will say it, sorry.”
“Why is the Prime Minister remaining silent? If Trump is indeed lying, then state it. Say it in Parliament,” Gandhi urged.
