During an election rally in Darbhanga on Wednesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He accused the party of having brought disrepute to Bihar on a global scale and framed the upcoming Assembly polls as a critical choice: either Bihar returns to an era of ‘jungle raj’ or continues its journey towards progress and development.
Singh specifically criticized the RJD’s promise of providing a government job to every household in Bihar, deeming it an ‘unrealistic’ and impractical assurance.
He affirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would release its manifesto on Thursday, pledging to honor every commitment made within it.
The Defence Minister highlighted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s unblemished record of 20 years in governance, stating that no corruption allegations could be leveled against him. In stark contrast, he expressed dismay over allegations of irregularities facing the family of a former Chief Minister.
Singh also challenged the opposition’s ‘false promises’ to reverse amendments to the Waqf Act, reminding the public that such a law, having been passed by Parliament, could not simply be undone at the state level.
He emphasized that the BJP’s politics transcend caste and religious divisions, asserting the party’s commitment to ‘fair and clean politics’.
Furthermore, Singh underscored the substantial investment of ₹15 lakh crore allocated for Bihar’s comprehensive development over the past 11 years, a testament to the Narendra Modi-led government’s efforts.
He concluded by crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rather than Rahul Gandhi, for granting constitutional status to the OBC (Other Backward Classes) commission, reiterating the BJP’s dedication to inclusive growth.
