A seemingly straightforward acid attack on a Delhi University student has taken a dramatic turn, revealing a convoluted plot orchestrated by the victim’s own father. The incident, initially reported as an acid assault by three assailants on a motorcycle, has now been exposed as a staged event using a household cleaning agent. The father, involved in multiple disputes with other families, has confessed to staging the attack to frame three men – one of whom is the husband of the woman he allegedly raped and blackmailed.
The investigation took a surprising turn when CCTV footage and forensic examination of the scene contradicted the student’s initial statement. Officers found no trace of acid and noted inconsistencies in the timeline. It was later revealed that the ‘acid’ used was a strong toilet cleaner, applied to the woman by her father, and then she was dropped near her college by her brother.
Further investigations uncovered a deeper motive rooted in personal vendettas and property disputes. The father had previously been accused of rape and blackmail by the wife of one of the men he intended to frame. This alleged victim had worked at his factory and filed a complaint detailing years of abuse. When summoned by the police, the accused father reportedly sent intermediaries instead of appearing himself, leading to his arrest.
The case highlights the intricate nature of some crimes, where personal vendettas and property disputes can lead to elaborate schemes involving false accusations and staged incidents. The father also implicated two other relatives involved in a property dispute with his family, and with whom his own family had a history of conflict, including an alleged acid attack in 2018.
