In a deeply distressing turn of events, a six-year-year-old boy named Paras has lost his life after receiving an injection from a local practitioner who lacked proper qualifications. The incident occurred in Bahilpar village of Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh, casting a shadow of grief and unrest over the community.
Paras, who was visiting his maternal grandparents, was taken to the unqualified physician for the treatment of a lump on his head. Despite the family’s family’s reservations and prior advice from doctors at Lucknow’s PGI against surgery, the practitioner reportedly proceeded with the treatment, charging ₹10,000 for what was promised as a minor procedure.
Tragically, soon after receiving the injection on Monday, Paras fell unconscious. His family rushed him through multiple medical facilities, starting from a community health center, then a private hospital, and finally to BRD Medical College, where he was tragically declared dead.
News of the young boy’s death spread rapidly, leading to an outpouring of anger from villagers. Residents gathered outside the clinic to protest the incident. By the time authorities arrived, the accused practitioner had reportedly locked the clinic and fled the scene.
The Sahjanwa police station confirmed that the family initially declined a post-mortem examination. The body was subsequently handed over to them. Police have stated that action will be taken once a formal complaint is filed, as the community awaits justice for this heartbreaking loss.
