In a display of remarkable bravery, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable at Erode railway station recently averted a tragedy by rescuing a young woman who had slipped while attempting to board a moving train.
The perilous incident unfolded around 9 p.m. on platform number 3. As the 22650 Yercaud Super Fast Express, destined for Chennai Central, began to pull away, a 20-year-old woman, who had arrived late, made a dangerous attempt to board. Tragically, she lost her footing, becoming precariously trapped between the moving train and the platform edge.
Panic erupted among fellow passengers as they witnessed the woman being dragged, shouting frantically for assistance. Fortunately, RPF Constable Jagadeesan, who was diligently patrolling the area, demonstrated incredible quick thinking. He immediately sprang into action, heroically pulling the woman away from the moving train and to safety, thus averting a potential fatality. She was attended to with first aid and sustained only minor injuries.
Following the rescue, Constable Jagadeesan provided crucial advice to the grateful passenger, reiterating the severe dangers of attempting to board or alight from trains in motion. His extraordinary presence of mind and swift response garnered widespread commendation from both the passengers present and the wider public.
