Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proudly announced that the Karnataka Police Department has secured the top position in the latest India Justice Report. He highlighted that this remarkable achievement significantly elevates the state’s reputation and brings immense credit to the government.

The Chief Minister made these remarks during an event at the Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall, where he officially launched the Anti-Drug Task Force and unveiled the “Sanmitra Action Plan” handbook. During the same program, new, redesigned peak caps were distributed to police personnel.

Emphasizing his vision for a ‘Drug-Free Karnataka’, CM Siddaramaiah urged citizens to unite with the police department in this crucial fight against drug abuse. He stressed that this collective effort is essential for protecting the state’s youth.

He asserted the police department’s responsibility to take a strong stand and completely eradicate the narcotics menace, ensuring that no young person, student, or youth falls victim to its destructive grasp.

Karnataka government has replaced the British-era slouch hat for head constables and constables with navy blue peaked caps. There was a long-standing proposal to change the design as the current hats were causing discomfort while on duty, especially during summer

The Karnataka government has replaced the traditional British-era slouch hats with modern navy blue peaked caps for head constables and constables. This change addresses long-standing concerns about discomfort, particularly during hot summer months.

Addressing the law and order situation, the Chief Minister specifically mentioned Mangaluru, a region previously known for its communal sensitivity. He proudly stated that the area is now under firm control, crediting the dedication and efforts of the state’s police officers.

He reflected on the past, noting a rise in communal clashes and unethical practices within the police force in Dakshina Kannada district. He recalled replacing two officers due to their failure to maintain control, emphasizing that the current stability is a testament to the renewed determination of local officers and staff. “These are our own people,” he stated, encouraging them to prove their capability through performance.

Towards a ‘Drug-Free Karnataka’

CM Siddaramaiah and DCM D.K. Shivakumar inaugurated the Anti-Drug Task Force and releasing the “Sanmitra Action Plan” handbook during the police department’s programme

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar officially launched the Anti-Drug Task Force and presented the “Sanmitra Action Plan” handbook during the police department’s event.

However, the Chief Minister also issued a stern warning, acknowledging the unfortunate involvement of some police personnel in real estate dealings and drug networks. He challenged the department, stating, “You possess the authority to curb hooliganism at its root. The diminishing fear of the police among criminals is a clear indicator; if you introspect, the answer will be evident.”

Siddaramaiah asserted that police officers are well aware of the drug suppliers, sources, and agents within these illicit networks. He urged them to act decisively, declaring, “Let Karnataka achieve a ‘Drug-Free’ status as swiftly as possible. Make it happen and demonstrate your resolve through action.”

Referring to the newly introduced uniforms, the Chief Minister revealed that he personally selected the new peak cap model, which replaces the slouch caps used for nearly 70 years since 1956. He expressed hope that this uniform cap, provided to all officers and staff, would instill a new sense of confidence. He concluded with a poignant reminder: “It’s not merely the cap that needs to change; your efficiency must evolve alongside it.”
