Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu has announced that cotton procurement operations are set to begin across the state this Wednesday, facilitated by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI). The Minister has directed officials to swiftly establish 30 procurement centers to protect farmers from economic hardships caused by recent cyclone impacts and volatile market conditions.
During the 2025–26 season, cotton was cultivated across an impressive 4.56 lakh hectares in Andhra Pradesh, with an anticipated yield of nearly 8 lakh metric tonnes. The government’s primary goal is to ensure that all farmers receive the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹8,110 per quintal, as stipulated by the Central government.
Farmers intending to sell their produce at these centers must adhere to a straightforward procedure. Initially, they need to register their details with Village Agriculture Assistants (VAAs) through the CM App at their local Rythu Seva Kendras. Following registration, they can conveniently book their selling slots using the ‘Kapas Kisan’ app, again with the support of VAAs. It’s essential that farmers sell their cotton exclusively through CCI-approved procurement centers (operating via ginning mills) that meet established quality standards.
Minister Atchannaidu has also instructed district agriculture and marketing officials to provide comprehensive guidance and full cooperation to field-level staff, ensuring a smooth and transparent cotton procurement process across all centers.
