Hyderabad is buzzing with excitement as the Sikh community prepares for a magnificent five-day celebration to honor the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the revered first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikhism. These grand festivities, steeped in devotion, will take place from November 1st to 5th, 2025.
Jointly orchestrated by the Prabhandak Committees of Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj, and Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad, the event promises a rich tapestry of holy processions, heartfelt devotional gatherings, captivating martial art displays, and spiritual night-long Keertan (hymn singing) sessions.
Details of these vibrant celebrations were unveiled during a recent press conference by key organizers, including presidents Satvinder Singh Bagga and S. Baldev Singh Bagga, vice president Jaspal Singh Tuteja, and general secretaries Jagmohan Singh and Joginder Singh Mujral.
Vibrant Holy Processions on November 1st and 3rd
The festivities will kick off with an awe-inspiring holy procession, known as a Nagar Keertan, on November 1st. Starting at 4 p.m. from Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad, the procession will gracefully wind its way through iconic landmarks such as Clock Tower, Patny circle, Kingsway, Monda Market, and Alpha Hotel, before concluding back at the Gurudwara in the evening. Thousands of devotees from across Telangana are expected to join, witnessing the Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred Sikh scripture, majestically carried on a beautifully adorned palanquin. The air will resonate with devotional hymns performed by Jatha Tera Jatha and other esteemed groups, complemented by thrilling demonstrations of Gatka, the traditional Sikh martial art, presented by the Jai Tegang Gatka Akhara from Amritsar and Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha.
A second equally splendid procession is scheduled for November 3rd, commencing at 4 p.m. from Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj. This spiritual journey will traverse through Afzalgunj, Siddiamber Bazar, Jambagh, Putlibowli, and the Central Gurudwara Saheb, Gowliguda, returning to Afzalgunj by 9 p.m. Much like the first, this procession will also feature soul-stirring devotional singing, impressive martial art displays, and the enthusiastic participation of thousands of faithful followers from all communities.

The culmination of these celebrations will be a grand mass congregation on November 5th, hosted at the spacious Exhibition Grounds in Nampally, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Over 25,000 devotees are anticipated to attend this significant event, which will be marked by powerful recitations of holy hymns and inspiring sermons delivered by renowned religious preachers from both India and internationally.
