A significant leadership transition has taken place within the Kerala Youth Congress, as O.J. Janeesh and Binu Chulliyil officially assumed their roles as State President and Working President, respectively. The swearing-in ceremony, a pivotal event, was held at the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, October 27, 2025.
During the inauguration, KPCC President Sunny Joseph, MLA, delivered a powerful message, urging Youth Congress members to spearhead a robust movement against what he described as the state government’s ‘anti-people’ and ‘anti-youth’ policies. He emphasized that the current Left Democratic Front (LDF) government has fallen short across various sectors. Joseph challenged the Youth Congress to step up and address governmental injustices, particularly noting the hesitation of other youth organizations aligned with the Left to openly criticize the administration.
Furthermore, Joseph condemned the government’s alleged use of law enforcement to quash public dissent and criticized reported ‘backdoor appointments’ which he claimed diminish the purpose and effectiveness of the employment exchange system.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Janeesh articulated the Youth Congress’s primary political objective: to bring an end to the Left’s governance in Kerala and establish a Congress-led administration. He also committed to ensuring the timely completion of ongoing initiatives, such as vital housing projects in Wayanad, demonstrating a clear focus on actionable progress.
The event also featured an inspiring keynote address by Youth Congress National President Uday Bhanu Chib. Several other prominent figures, including KPCC Working Presidents A.P. Anil Kumar and P.C. Vishnunath (both MLAs), Shafi Parambil (MP), and United Democratic Front (UDF) convener Adoor Prakash (MP), also addressed the gathering, underscoring the collective support for the new leadership.
