BJP Tamil Nadu President Nainar Nagenthran recently launched a strong accusation, stating that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is attempting to divert public attention from the alleged failures of the DMK government. According to Nagenthran, Stalin’s criticism of the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is merely a smokescreen to obscure his administration’s shortcomings.
In a statement issued on Monday (October 27, 2025), Nagenthran highlighted a key historical point. He reminded the Chief Minister that in 2017, during the by-election for the Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar Assembly constituency, the DMK itself had filed a case demanding a special revision of the electoral roll due to concerns over bogus voters. This past action, Nagenthran implied, contradicts Stalin’s current opposition.
Further questioning the Chief Minister, Nagenthran asked, “Is the Chief Minister unaware that under successive Congress governments, the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll was carried out 10 times? Why is he trying to portray this routine procedure of the Election Commission as something new?”
Nagenthran also challenged the DMK government’s integrity by pointing out that all officials involved in the SIR process, from the Chief Electoral Officer to District Collectors and Revenue Department personnel, are employees of the Tamil Nadu government. He concluded with a pointed question: “In that case, is the DMK government casting doubts on the integrity of officials of its own government?”
