The search is ongoing for a man believed to have committed a “racially aggravated” rape against a woman of Indian origin in northern England. West Midlands police have released grainy CCTV footage of the suspect, hoping for a breakthrough in identifying him.
The harrowing incident occurred on Saturday evening in Walsall, where the victim, in her 20s, was attacked by a stranger at a nearby property. Police have described the assault as “appalling” and have launched an urgent appeal for information.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his 30s, with short or thinning hair. The released CCTV footage shows him walking in an outdoor area, possibly a park. Community groups have expressed particular concern, noting that this attack follows a similar racially aggravated rape of a British Sikh woman in the nearby Oldbury area just weeks prior.
Detective Superintendent Ronan Tyrer, leading the investigation, stated, “This was an absolutely appalling attack on a young woman, and we are doing absolutely everything we can to arrest the person responsible.” Officers are actively collecting evidence and working to build a profile of the attacker. The police are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area at the time of the incident to come forward, emphasizing that any information could be crucial in leading to the suspect’s arrest.
