In a disturbing turn of events in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district, a 30-year-old woman, Haseena Begum, along with her 20-year-old lover, Abdul Salam alias Piddi, has been arrested for the murder of her husband, Zakir Ali, 35. The grim discovery was made on Saturday morning when Zakir Ali’s body was found in the verandah of his home in Alinagar Kala village.
Initially, Haseena attempted to mislead authorities, claiming that her husband was murdered by relatives, including his uncle Asif Ali and cousins Rozan and Nafees, due to a dispute over ancestral land. This fabricated story was intended to divert suspicion from herself and her lover. However, the swift investigation by the Khairighat police, supported by crucial spot evidence and informant tips, revealed the truth.
The Murder Plot Unravelled
Investigations uncovered that Haseena and Abdul Salam had been in a clandestine relationship for nearly two years. Seeing Zakir Ali as an impediment to their future, the couple meticulously planned his demise. On the night of October 24, after Zakir had fallen asleep, Haseena summoned Salam to their residence. Together, they suffocated Zakir using a dupatta while he slept, and subsequently slit his throat with a knife on the verandah to make the murder appear more violent.
To further their scheme, Haseena promptly lodged a police complaint against Zakir’s relatives, attempting to pin the blame on them.
The police have successfully recovered the murder weapon, a knife, the dupatta used in the crime, and blood-stained clothing belonging to the accused. The mobile phones of both Haseena and Salam have also been seized as evidence.
In recognition of their successful investigation, Superintendent of Police Ram Nayan Singh announced a cash reward of ₹20,000 for the dedicated police team that cracked this intricate case.
