Nainar Nagenthran, the president of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit, issued a strong appeal on Sunday, October 26, 2025, urging party workers to maintain utmost vigilance during the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This crucial exercise is expected to commence across Tamil Nadu next week.
In an official statement, Mr. Nagenthran underscored the importance of diligent oversight from party members during the SIR process. “It is our collective responsibility to ensure that no eligible voter from any polling booth is inadvertently missed, and equally important, that no names already present on the rolls are unfairly removed,” he stated. He expressed concern that “some elements” might attempt to manipulate the SIR to delete the names of BJP supporters, thereby stressing the need for vigilance among booth committee members throughout the revision period.
Furthermore, Mr. Nagenthran instructed party workers to proactively demand clear and justifiable reasons for any names proposed for removal from the electoral lists. The Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll is scheduled to last for approximately ten days in Tamil Nadu. During this period, as government officials conduct door-to-door verifications, BJP cadres are advised to set aside other engagements and dedicate themselves to this critical monitoring task with unwavering attentiveness.
