A horrific traffic accident unfolded on Thursday evening near Harlapur Cross in Karnataka’s Gadag district, claiming the lives of three individuals, including two police constables. The collision involved a private car and a bus operated by the Goa transport corporation.
Eyewitnesses described a chilling sequence of events: the car initially veered off course, striking a road divider after its driver reportedly lost control. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn, flipping onto the opposite side of the road, where it tragically collided with an oncoming bus.
The force of the impact and the subsequent overturning left the car extensively damaged, nearly crushed beyond recognition.
At the time of the accident, the ill-fated car was traveling from Gadag towards Haveri. Conversely, the Kadamba (Goa) Transport Corporation bus was en route to Gadag.
Authorities have identified the deceased as 34-year-old Arjun Nellur, a constable serving with the Haveri District Control Room; his uncle, 42-year-old Ravi Nellur; and 38-year-old Iranna Uppar, a constable from the Koppal District Control Room.
Constable Arjun Nellur hailed from Hungund village in Bankapur taluk, Haveri district, while Constable Iranna Uppar was a resident of Itagi village in Kukanur taluk, Koppal district.
Personnel from the Gadag Rural Police promptly arrived at the scene. They were instrumental in recovering the bodies, which were subsequently transported to GIMS Hospital in Gadag for further procedures.
