The Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, strongly criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its focus on communal politics, arguing that it distracts from vital economic challenges. His remarks came as he restarted his Bihar Adhikar Yatra from the Sahebpur-Kamal Assembly constituency in Begusarai district.
Addressing the public, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader urged the people of Begusarai to support the Opposition INDIA bloc, promising that if elected, his government would ensure employment for educated youth.
“I’ve witnessed countless educated young people struggling to find work. Our most formidable adversaries are unemployment, inflation, and poverty. These are the issues that demand our attention, yet the BJP is engrossed in Hindu-Muslim politics, which inevitably fuels unrest. Furthermore, the BJP is attempting to seize land from the Muslim community through the Waqf Act,” Mr. Yadav stated.
Rising Crime in Bihar
Mr. Yadav also claimed that the ongoing land survey by the Bihar government is a ploy to allocate land belonging to the poor to industrialists and wealthy individuals. He harshly condemned the Nitish Kumar government for the deteriorating law and order across the State, asserting that violent crimes, including murders, are a daily occurrence.
He highlighted the ineffectiveness of the State’s complete prohibition on liquor, noting that alcohol is readily available via home delivery. “Liquor mafias operate with impunity, often with the support of local police. They are audacious enough to supply alcohol with police backing. The majority of those incarcerated in false liquor cases belong to backward, Dalit, and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) communities, while the wealthy remain untouched by law enforcement,” he alleged.
Accusations of ‘Double Standard Politics’
Mr. Yadav also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pointing out that the Prime Minister had not visited Bihar to assess the flood situation or meet victims, but only to campaign for votes.
“This pattern cannot persist. He establishes factories in Gujarat and then expects electoral victories in Bihar. The youth and the underprivileged of Bihar will not tolerate such hypocritical politics. We must unite to forge a new Bihar with renewed determination,” Mr. Yadav declared.
The RJD has held the Sahebpur-Kamal seat for the past two terms, and Mr. Yadav expressed strong confidence that the INDIA bloc would secure all seven seats in Begusarai district in the upcoming Assembly election.
Continuing his yatra, the RJD leader traveled to the Khagaria, Parbatta, and Beldour Assembly constituencies. At each stop, he emphasized his commitment to serving Bihar as a son of the soil, rather than merely a political leader, reiterating his conviction that the INDIA bloc is poised to form the next government in the State. Throughout his journey, Mr. Yadav addressed the large crowds from atop his specially modified bus, which was equipped with modern amenities, foregoing traditional stages.
