KALLAKURICHI – In a decisive move against corruption, two head constables from the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) in Kallakurichi district have been suspended. The disciplinary action comes after they were found to be allegedly involved in facilitating the illegal trade of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
The suspended officers, identified as Premnath and Sundaravardhan, were stationed at the PEW unit in Tirukoyilur. Police investigations revealed their alleged collaboration with individuals engaged in the illicit liquor business.
Following a thorough inquiry prompted by multiple complaints, the accusations against the constables were substantiated. Kallakurichi Superintendent of Police G.S. Madhavan promptly issued orders for their immediate suspension, citing serious misconduct.
