KALLAKURICHI: Authorities in Kallakurichi district have taken swift action, suspending two police head constables from the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) for their alleged complicity in the illegal trade of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
The suspended officers, identified as Head Constables Premnath and Sundaravardhan, were stationed at the PEW unit in Tirukoyilur. Police investigations revealed that both individuals were reportedly colluding with those involved in the illicit liquor business. Following a series of complaints, a thorough inquiry was conducted, confirming the serious allegations against them.
Kallakurichi Superintendent of Police G.S. Madhavan promptly ordered their immediate suspension, citing gross misconduct. This action underscores the department’s commitment to upholding integrity within its ranks and cracking down on illegal activities, even those allegedly involving its own personnel.
