CUDDALORE — The Director of Municipal Administration, P. Madhusudhan Reddy, recently visited Cuddalore to assess the progress of various critical development projects spearheaded by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department. His thorough review took place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, highlighting the administration’s commitment to the city’s growth.
During his visit, Mr. Reddy held in-depth discussions on the ongoing work, which notably includes an extensive underground drainage system. This vital project, currently underway in 12 wards of Cuddalore Corporation, involves laying pipelines spanning 148.70 kilometers and is set to benefit 14,134 households. The Director urged officials to prioritize the swift completion of this work, stressing the importance of promptly restoring any roads damaged during the sewer-laying process to ensure minimal disruption for residents.
Beyond sanitation, the review also covered significant market development initiatives. Officials provided updates on the construction of 122 new shops within the Anna market, a project estimated at ₹5.03 crore, and another new market facility in New Town, valued at ₹5.27 crore.
Furthermore, Mr. Reddy examined the advancement of several other key urban improvement schemes. These included the creation of environmentally friendly temporary structures for Silver Beach, aimed at achieving the prestigious Blue Flag certification, and the implementation of a 24×7 water supply under the Amrut 2.0 scheme, a project with an estimated cost of ₹28.67 crore. The construction of a modern bus terminus at Arisiperiyankuppam, a substantial undertaking valued at ₹36 crore, was also a focal point of his assessment.
Concluding his review, the Director issued clear directives to officials across all departments under MAWS. He reiterated the imperative of completing all projects within their stipulated timelines and emphasized the necessity of consistent and diligent monitoring to ensure successful execution.
Cuddalore District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, alongside various line department officials, participated in the crucial discussions, demonstrating a united front in advancing Cuddalore’s urban development agenda.
