Air India has once again found itself in the spotlight, not for operational matters, but for an unusual incident onboard one of its flights. A logbook entry documenting the fate of a cockroach has gone viral, capturing the attention of social media users worldwide.
The peculiar entry, made on October 24th, reportedly originated from a flight where a passenger alerted the crew to a live cockroach. In a move that has since gained widespread attention, the crew documented the insect’s demise in the aircraft’s official maintenance log with the striking phrase: “Cockroach found alive by guest – cockroach hanged until death.”
This log, noted alongside more routine issues like a malfunctioning entertainment system and a clogged washbasin, has become a topic of discussion and amusement online. While the airline has not yet issued a formal comment on the incident or any follow-up actions, it adds a curious chapter to the airline’s recent history.
This peculiar event follows closely on the heels of another Air India incident where a flight experienced a bird strike shortly after takeoff, necessitating a return to Nagpur. The aircraft landed safely, and standard inspection procedures were followed. Air India stated that the flight was subsequently cancelled to allow for necessary maintenance checks.
Meanwhile, India is preparing to host a significant gathering of aircraft accident investigators, with the Asia-Pacific region’s meeting scheduled to take place in the national capital from October 28th to 31st, expecting participation from around 90 investigators.
