KALLAKURICHI: In a decisive action against alleged corruption, two head constables from the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) in Kallakurichi district have been suspended. The move comes amid accusations of their direct involvement and collusion with individuals engaged in the illegal trade of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
The suspended officers have been identified as Head Constables Premnath and Sundaravardhan, both previously stationed at the PEW unit in Tirukoyilur within the district. Police reports indicate that a thorough inquiry was launched following multiple complaints detailing their alleged connivance with those operating in the illicit liquor market.
Following the investigation, the allegations were substantiated, leading to Kallakurichi Superintendent of Police G.S. Madhavan issuing immediate suspension orders. The Superintendent emphasized that the suspension was a direct consequence of their serious misconduct.
