In a deeply disturbing event, a seven-year-old girl named Siri has been tragically killed by her stepfather, identified as Darshan, aged 29. The incident took place in Kumbalagodu, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. According to police reports, Darshan allegedly strangled the child to death following a dispute with his wife.
The girl’s mother had remarried Darshan after the passing of her first husband. However, the couple had been experiencing frequent disagreements, leading to a strained atmosphere at home. During a particularly heated argument on Friday, Darshan allegedly lost control and unleashed his anger on young Siri, ultimately leading to her death before he fled the scene.
Police officials confirmed that Darshan and his wife had been arguing over personal matters for several days leading up to the incident. Kumbalagodu police inspector Manjunath Hugar stated that Darshan had been employed as a clerk in a private firm for the past ten years.
The wife, Shashikala (28), who also works in the private sector, had reportedly married Darshan just four months prior. On the day of the incident, Darshan did not report for work and remained at home with his seven-year-old stepdaughter, Siri. He is alleged to have strangled her because he disliked her.
The tragedy came to light when Shashikala returned home around 6 PM. Police were alerted and rushed to the scene for preliminary investigation. Siri’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Darshan is currently absconding, and a manhunt has been launched by the police to apprehend him. A murder case has been registered against the accused, and the investigation is ongoing.
