Congress MLC Yathindra found himself once again at the center of a political storm after recently promoting Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s leadership in Belagavi. On Saturday, Yathindra further stirred the pot by confidently asserting that his father, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, would indeed serve his entire term, emphasizing “under the present circumstances.” This statement comes amidst persistent rumors of leadership changes within the party.
Debunking the ‘November Revolution’ Rumors
During a press interaction on Saturday, Mr. Yathindra emphatically refuted the ongoing speculation about a potential “November revolution” within the party, clarifying that no such discussions were taking place. When pressed by journalists about his earlier comments in Belagavi, the Congress MLC opted for a more reserved stance, stating, “I do not wish to prolong this matter or invite further controversy. I have already provided my clarification and will not address it publicly again.”
He reiterated his position that any future discussions regarding the issue would be confined to internal party forums, emphasizing its nature as an internal party affair. Addressing concerns about a possible notice from the party high command for his remarks, similar to actions taken against others on leadership discussions, Mr. Yathindra remained unfazed. “Let them do as they deem fit,” he remarked, adding, “We shall see if a notice arrives.” He concluded this point by stating he saw no need for further public clarification on a matter he had already addressed.
Standing Firm on His Statement
Despite the pushback, Mr. Yathindra firmly stood by his original statement. He asserted that there was “nothing wrong in whatever I have said” and reiterated that his clarifications had already been made. He further elaborated, pointing out that the party comprises numerous AHINDA leaders and other dedicated individuals who champion social justice, all of whom possess the qualifications and eligibility to lead the Congress party.
