Even though Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to launch on November 14th, developer Treyarch is already buzzing about the impressive lineup of content for its inaugural season. A recent ‘Dev Talk’ video has confirmed a massive drop of seven new multiplayer maps, three challenging Zombies maps, exciting new weaponry, a host of seasonal events, and much more for Season 1 of Black Ops 7.
Treyarch’s latest ‘Dev Talk’ presentation highlighted that Season 1 will be absolutely jam-packed with content for both multiplayer and Zombies modes. Yale Miller, the senior director of production, enthusiastically declared, “This will be the biggest season we’ve ever done in franchise history.”
A dedicated video presentation further explores these upcoming additions, diving into the details of the new content.
Players can look forward to a grand total of seven 6v6 multiplayer maps, a blend of entirely new creations and beloved remasters. Among the fresh offerings is ‘Fate,’ a visually striking map drawing inspiration from the campaign mission ‘Time and Fate,’ featuring a surreal, fragmented cityscape in Nicaragua. Other new maps include ‘Odysseus,’ also based on a campaign mission, and ‘Utopia,’ a futuristic Guild facility located in Australia. Fans of previous titles will be thrilled to learn that ‘Meltdown’ from Black Ops 2 is making a triumphant return as a remastered map.
Treyarch also confirmed that they are actively implementing changes to maps based on valuable community feedback from the beta period. Matt Scronce, Associate Design Director, stated that the team is specifically reviewing all in-game doors across the entire Black Ops 7 map collection, aiming to reduce the number of automatic doors where possible to enhance gameplay without causing disruption.
Expect a fresh arsenal of seven new weapons in Season 1, including the highly anticipated return of the fan-favorite Maddox assault rifle from Black Ops 4. The versatile crossbow and the stealthy ballistic knife will also be making a comeback, adding more tactical options for players.
Beyond new weapons, Season 1 brings back fan-favorite game modes. The inclusion of the crossbow and ballistic knife heralds the return of the chaotic ‘Sticks and Stones’ party mode. Additionally, ‘Prop Hunt’ and other exciting seasonal limited-time modes are confirmed to join the fray.
Zombies enthusiasts can prepare for three new maps, including a fresh round-based experience and two survival maps adapted from locations from the ‘Ashes of the Damned’ launch map. The update will also introduce a plethora of new augments, field upgrades, and ammo mods. Adding to the excitement, two limited-time holiday modes will be available for Zombies on the season’s new round-based map.
And for those eager for a classic twist, the Black Ops 7 version of ‘Nuketown’ will make its debut on November 20th, ensuring a steady flow of content shortly after the game’s release.
In a prior ‘Dev Talk,’ Treyarch had already outlined upcoming multiplayer adjustments for launch, such as refinements to player movement, aim assist mechanics, and perk systems.
