Hyderabad police have achieved a breakthrough, arresting three men within 12 hours following a shooting incident in Yamnampet, Ghatkesar, which left a 28-year-old critically injured. Authorities successfully recovered a locally manufactured pistol, a car, and several mobile phones from the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi, 24, a cattle transporter from Bandlaguda; Kuruva Srinivas, 29, a farmer from Shabad; and Hassan bin Mosin, 22, also involved in the cattle transport business, from Kalapathar. A fourth suspect, Mohammad Haneef Qureshi, 34, from Rajendranagar, remains at large.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu confirmed that the victim, Bidla Prashanth Kumar, also known as Sonu Singh, 28, a resident of Rampally in Keesara, is an active member of a local cow protection group (Gau Rakshak Dal).
The case has been registered under Sections 109 and 61(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alongside Sections 25(1)(a) and 27 of the Arms Act, 1959.
According to Commissioner Babu, the incident unfolded on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, around 5 p.m., when Prashanth was lured to Yamnampet by his friend Srinivas. Upon arrival, he found Srinivas accompanied by Ibrahim, Haneef, and Hassan. The meeting quickly devolved into a heated confrontation, with the men accusing Prashanth of exposing their illicit cattle transportation activities. The argument escalated, culminating in Ibrahim allegedly drawing a pistol from his car and shooting Prashanth in the right side of his chest before the group fled.
Police promptly responded to the scene, transporting the injured man to a private hospital in Medipally. Due to the severe nature of his wound, he was later transferred to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad for emergency surgery. Doctors successfully extracted a bullet from his body, while forensic teams gathered blood-stained clothing and other crucial evidence from the crime site.
Investigations have revealed that the shooting was driven by a combination of revenge and a financial dispute. Police stated that the primary accused, Ibrahim, had incurred significant losses, estimated at ₹1 crore, after the victim allegedly intercepted several of his cattle transport vehicles. Furthermore, Prashanth had purportedly demanded ₹5 lakh from Ibrahim to cease interfering with his operations.
Special police teams were swiftly deployed, leading to the arrest of three of the four accused in Shamshabad during the early hours of Thursday, October 23, 2025. A car with registration number AP 09 CK 4788, three mobile phones, and the country-made pistol used in the offense were recovered from their possession. Investigators also found two empty cartridges and cigarette butts at the crime scene.
Commissioner Sudheer Babu highlighted that the accused have a history of involvement in cases related to illegal cattle transportation and cruelty to animals, with previous records at Mulugu, Gajwel, Shamshabad Rural, and Ghatkesar police stations. Ibrahim himself faces an extortion charge registered in 2022 at the Kamatipura Police Station.
