Vellappally Natesan Urges Kerala to Embrace PM SHRI and NEP, Calls for Dialogue with CPI

Vellappally Natesan, the General Secretary of Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, recently urged for the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme in Kerala.

During a press interaction on Wednesday (October 22, 2025), Natesan highlighted that Kerala should align with other states by adopting the National Education Policy (NEP). He expressed confidence that the Communist Party of India (CPI)’s objections to the NEP would subside following discussions with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

“There’s no reason for Kerala to delay implementing the NEP when other states are moving forward,” Natesan asserted. He remarked that the CPI, despite its ‘saffronisation’ concerns, eventually concedes on most matters and suggested their current opposition might simply be for appearances. “The ‘saffron’ influence has been strong for over a decade now. I believe that once Chief Minister Vijayan steps in for talks, the CPI’s resistance will undoubtedly soften,” he elaborated.

Vellappally Natesan on the Sabarimala Gold Theft Case

Regarding the recent Sabarimala gold theft incident, Natesan used a common proverb, stating, “Let the one who has eaten the salt drink the water,” implying that those responsible should face the consequences. He also advocated for the dissolution of all existing devaswom boards.

He questioned the Opposition’s attempt to politicize the Sabarimala gold theft by linking it to the State government, dismissing calls for Devaswom Minister V.N. Vasavan’s resignation as politically motivated. Natesan proposed reforming the system by appointing an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer as Secretary, noting that both the Kerala High Court and the government are already taking decisive action. “Given these proactive steps, what reason do Hindu organizations have to protest?” he queried.
