On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath officially launched the dispatch of 1,000 quintals of crucial wheat seeds from his official residence. These seeds are destined for the flood-stricken farming communities of Punjab, offering a vital lifeline to those who have lost their crops.
During the event, Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized that this initiative showcases Uttar Pradesh’s unwavering dedication to supporting all citizens facing hardship. He highlighted that the true essence of Diwali lies in fostering compassion and service, a sentiment beautifully embodied by this aid package.
“During this challenging period, the Uttar Pradesh government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Punjab’s ‘annadata’ (food-provider) farmers,” stated Mr. Adityanath. He affirmed that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the “double-engine government” (referring to both central and state administrations) is fully dedicated to assisting every disaster-affected citizen through comprehensive relief, financial support, and rehabilitation initiatives.
An official statement highlighted the Chief Minister’s acknowledgment of Punjab’s crucial contributions to India’s agricultural self-sufficiency, recognizing its historical role as the nation’s breadbasket.
Unfortunately, this year’s heavy monsoon rains brought widespread disruption to Punjab, devastating communities and completely wiping out the precious seed reserves of many farmers.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the dispatched consignment consists of 2,500 bags, totaling 1,000 quintals, of BB-327 wheat seeds, fondly known as “Karn Shivani.”
He further elaborated that this particular variety is bio-fortified and highly resistant to diseases, boasting a maturation period of approximately 155 days and promising impressive yields of up to 80 quintals per hectare.
Mr. Adityanath pointed out that this vital seed assistance not only signifies Uttar Pradesh’s solidarity with Punjab’s farmers but also underscores the remarkable transformation of the Uttar Pradesh Seeds Development Corporation. Once a struggling organization, it has now become a profitable entity, recording earnings of ₹37 crore in a single year.
He also made an exciting announcement regarding the upcoming establishment of a ‘Seed Park’ in Lucknow. This park, dedicated to the memory of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, is already in its final stages of preparation.
Moreover, plans are underway to develop five more seed parks across Uttar Pradesh, aiming to significantly boost agricultural innovation and production statewide.
Concluding his address, Mr. Adityanath extended warm greetings to citizens on the auspicious occasions of Diwali and Guru Har Gobind Ji Maharaj’s birth anniversary. He emphasized that the profound teachings of service, sacrifice, and welfare rooted in Sikh tradition continue to be a powerful source of inspiration for public life and governance.
