PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has made a compelling appeal to the State government, urging them not to proceed with the relocation of the primary health centre (PHC) in Kaduvetti, Thiruverkadu, near Chennai. This essential health facility has been serving the community diligently for over 60 years.
In a recent statement, Mr. Ramadoss highlighted the historical significance and impact of the PHC. Established initially as a maternity centre in 1967, it has since become a cornerstone for more than 20 surrounding villages, providing crucial healthcare services to countless individuals and families.
The State government’s proposal involves moving the PHC to Puliyambedu in Noombal. However, Dr. Anbumani strongly condemned this decision, stating, “It is simply unacceptable to deny people access to a long-established primary health centre, especially under the guise of improving it.” He further pointed out the practical disadvantages of the proposed move: the current PHC enjoys an accessible location on the Avadi-Poonamallee Highway, ensuring easy reach for villagers. In stark contrast, the alternative site is situated approximately 7 kilometers away, a distance that would undoubtedly create significant hardship for the local population seeking medical care.
