The Federation of Associations of Telangana Higher Institutions (FATHI) has declared that all its member colleges will shut down indefinitely starting November 3, 2025. This decisive action comes as a direct response to the government’s persistent failure to release the long-awaited fee reimbursement dues.
During an urgent core committee meeting held on Sunday, FATHI outlined its plan of action. This includes formally notifying the State government on October 22, engaging with the accredited colleges association on October 24, and consulting with various student unions on October 25. The federation aims to build broad consensus and support.
Further escalating their efforts, a general body meeting is scheduled for October 26, and FATHI intends to hold all-party consultations by November 1. These extensive outreach initiatives, as stated by FATHI representative K. Ramdass, are designed to gather widespread backing for their protest movement.
The FATHI committee has put forth several key demands to the government: the immediate release of funds to all colleges currently not covered by the reimbursement scheme, prompt clearance of dues owed to minority colleges, and the complete disbursement of all outstanding RTF (Reimbursement of Tuition Fee) amounts by April 1, 2026. Crucially, they are also demanding that the government disburse the promised ₹900 crore by November 1, 2025. Earlier, FATHI representatives had already met with Congress leader K. Keshav Rao, urging him to intervene and advocate for their cause with the government.
