In a significant step towards community development and social inclusion, the Vellappally bridge, connecting the Sea View and Powerhouse wards within the Alappuzha municipality, was officially opened by Minister for Water Resources Roshy Augustine on Sunday. During the inauguration, Minister Augustine reiterated that the primary goal of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government is to bring the most vulnerable sections of society into the mainstream.
The Minister elaborated on the government’s systematic approach, which involves actively identifying individuals and families in dire need of fundamental resources such as land, housing, adequate food, and consistent medical support. He affirmed the administration’s commitment to providing comprehensive assistance to these groups, with an ambitious target to achieve this critical objective across Kerala by November 1.
Constructed at an approximate cost of ₹3 crore, the Vellappally bridge is more than just a pathway; it’s a vital link designed to enhance connectivity without impeding local water transport. The bridge features a spacious carriageway, measuring 7.5 meters in width, and boasts a total length of 15.65 meters, complete with convenient walkways on both sides for pedestrians.
The event was presided over by P.P. Chitharanjan, MLA, marking a memorable day for the residents of Alappuzha.
