Telangana’s Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, has unveiled an inspiring vision to transform Hyderabad into a world-class international city. Central to this plan is the ambitious ‘Bharat Future City’ project, earmarked for a sprawling 40,000 acres.
During a recent courtesy visit by Ms. Nirmala Lakshman, Chairperson of The Hindu Group of Publications, the Chief Minister engaged in a detailed discussion covering Hyderabad’s future development, significant education reforms, and the preservation of Telangana’s rich cultural heritage.
Emphasizing education’s pivotal role in societal development, Mr. Reddy stressed the importance of fostering a qualitative and inclusive learning environment. He articulated a powerful vision for schools where children grow up reflecting society’s diversity, united rather than segregated by caste. The upcoming ‘Young India Residential Schools’ in Telangana, equipped with top-tier facilities, are designed to embody this ethos of social harmony and reject any form of exclusion.
Highlighting Hyderabad’s established status as a global city, the Chief Minister shared his aspiration to transform it into India’s premier sports hub. To achieve this, sporting legends such as Kapil Dev and Bhaichung Bhutia have been enlisted onto the Sports Board, tasked with guiding the development of world-class sports infrastructure. His ultimate dream is to witness future Olympic champions emerge from Telangana’s dedicated Sports University.
Another key initiative championed by Mr. Reddy is the Telangana Skills University. This institution aims to cultivate modern professionals and equip young people for the demands of the global workforce. Renowned industrialist Anand Mahindra, serving as the university’s chairman, is playing a crucial role in steering its growth through innovative academic programs and strong industry partnerships.
Addressing the cultural landscape, Mr. Reddy underscored the government’s commitment to preserving Telangana’s unique tribal heritage. He specifically mentioned the Sammakka–Sarakka Jatara, renowned as Asia’s largest tribal festival, explaining that efforts are underway to modernize its infrastructure while meticulously safeguarding its rich traditional essence.
The Chief Minister also proposed that The Hindu Group consider publishing special edition books dedicated to Telangana’s magnificent temples, highlighting the profound spiritual and historical significance of sites such as the Jogulamba Temple at Alampur, recognized as one of India’s 18 revered Shakti Peethas.
In response, Ms. Nirmala Lakshman presented the Chief Minister with a collection of table-top books, featuring Tirumala, Temples of Chola Kings, and other significant shrines. She expressed her admiration for his vision encompassing inclusive growth and dedicated cultural preservation.
