HYDERABAD – In a heartfelt plea, Padma Shri awardee Darshanam Mogilaiah recently approached BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, seeking urgent assistance to protect his allotted house site and facilitate crucial eye treatment.
Mogilaiah, a celebrated Kinnera artiste, received the prestigious Padma Shri in 2022 for his dedicated efforts in preserving the traditional 12-step Kinnera folk music instrument. During their meeting on Saturday, he reminded Mr. Rama Rao of the national recognition he gained through the unwavering support of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Expressing concern for Mogilaiah’s well-being, the BRS leader promptly assured him that he would personally oversee arrangements for his eye treatment at the renowned L.V. Prasad Institute in Hyderabad. Furthermore, Mr. Rama Rao contacted Rangareddy District Collector C. Narayana Reddy to inquire about the status of the 600-square-yard land previously allotted to the artiste in Hayathnagar mandal.
Mogilaiah detailed to Mr. Rama Rao how certain individuals were attempting to encroach upon his land, even going as far as demolishing a constructed room and boundary walls. He also highlighted inconsistencies in receiving his monthly pension of ₹10,000.
In response, Mr. Rama Rao urged the Collector to ensure that Mogilaiah is not harassed by encroachers and that his land is fully protected. He also pledged that the BRS would provide necessary legal support to the artiste if required.
