The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar experienced a significant setback on Saturday, October 18, 2025, as the nomination papers of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate Seema Singh for the Marhaura Assembly constituency were rejected during scrutiny.
Officials cited discrepancies in the documents submitted by Singh, a prominent candidate from Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s party. This rejection comes at a critical time, especially since LJP (Ram Vilas) had secured 29 seats as part of the NDA’s finalized seat-sharing arrangement.
The comprehensive seat-sharing agreement for the Bihar Assembly election was formally announced on Sunday, October 12, 2025, following extensive discussions among senior leaders of the alliance in New Delhi.
Under the new arrangement, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) will contest 101 seats each. Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) was allocated 29 seats, while Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) each received six seats.
