Bengaluru is reeling from the tragic news of a 19-year-old BBA student who reportedly died by suicide on Friday, a devastating act allegedly triggered by relentless harassment from a college senior.
The Bagaluru police have initiated a thorough investigation, registering a case of abetment to suicide. This action follows a formal complaint lodged by Abdul Nazeer, a civil contractor from Virajpet in Kodagu district. The accused has been identified as Refaas, a resident of Thrissur, Kerala.
According to Mr. Nazeer’s complaint, the deceased, Sana Parveen, a second-year BBA student residing in rented accommodation with a friend, had repeatedly confided in her parents about the ongoing torment. The harassment, he alleges, was perpetrated by a senior student who, despite having graduated, continued to target Sana. Her parents had reportedly approached college authorities, who summoned Refaas and warned him to cease contact. However, these interventions proved futile, and the harassment persisted, ultimately leading Sana to take this extreme and heartbreaking step.
Mysterious Death of a Youth in Madiwala Lodge Under Investigation
Adding to the city’s concern, police are also investigating another perplexing case: the mysterious death of a 20-year-old man from Puttur, Dakshina Kannada district. The young man, identified as Thakshith, was discovered deceased in his lodge room in Madiwala on Friday.
Police reports indicate that Thakshith had checked into the lodge last Thursday and diligently paid his rent daily. On the following Thursday, he informed the management of his intention to check out the next day. However, when hotel staff later attempted to check on him, they found his room locked from the inside. After repeated attempts to get a response proved unsuccessful, the door was forced open, revealing the tragic discovery of his lifeless body.
Authorities conducted an immediate on-site investigation before transferring Thakshith’s body for a post-mortem examination. A case of suspicious death has been registered, and police are now awaiting the crucial post-mortem report to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this untimely demise.
